6 Must Watch Episodes of Gilmore Girls

As a loyal fan of Gilmore Girls, I was overjoyed when I found out that the series would be streaming on Netflix - all seven seasons! Gilmore Girls follows the lives of witty and coffee obsessed Lorelai Gilmore raising her daughter Rory in the fictional town of Stars Hollow, Connecticut. With great story lines and constant banter, the show is a must watch! Since Netflix has added the series for streaming, I've chosen a few of my favorite must watch episodes! If you haven't watched the show, I definitely recommend grabbing a bag of popcorn and binge-watching the entire series!

Season 1, Episode 4 "The Deer Hunters"

Just starting out at Chilton, Rory gets a D on a major assignment leading her to cram for the upcoming test. Unfortunately she oversleeps, gets hit by a deer while on her way to school, and is unable to take her exam after being late. This is one of my favorite episodes because although Rory’s sweet, she’s just like her mother and isn’t afraid to be sassy. The most memorable line from that episode was “And for the last time, my name is RORY!”

Season 2, Episode 16 "There's the Rub"

Lorelai and Emily spend the weekend at the spa. Rory spends the evening alone until it's interrupted by Paris. In addition, Jess unexpectedly shows up with a bunch of food from Luke’s Diner and invites himself over for dinner. Dean surprises Rory with some ice cream at her house only to find Jess there. There’s no denying the chemistry that Rory and Jess have in this episode. As a Jess fan, this is definitely one of my favorite episodes.

Season 3, Episode 7 "They Shoot Gilmores, Don’t They?"

Stars Hollow holds its annual 24-hour dance marathon, which Lorelai is determined to win. The Rory/Jess/Dean love triangle comes to its end as Dean breaks up with Rory because she has feelings for Jess. It's definitely a must watch episode, especially since Adam Brody appears as the dorky, music obsessed, Lane crushing, Dave Rygalski.

Season 4, Episode 22 "Raincoats and Recipes"

The wait is over! After four seasons, Luke and Lorelai finally go on a date. However, things don’t go according to plan when Lorelai’s ex comes to the newly opened Dragonfly Inn leading Luke to be unsure of where he stands.  Eventually things get sorted out, marking the beginning of Lorelai’s and Luke’s relationship. Rory rekindles her relationship with Dean (who recently got married) and loses her virginity to him.

Season 5, Episode 13 "Wedding Bell Blues"

In the 100th episode of the series Emily and Richard renew their wedding vows. After speaking to Emily, Christopher comes to the wedding hoping to win Lorelai back. Luke and Christopher end up getting into an argument about Lorelai leading Luke to leave the wedding early. Rory decides to have a casual relationship with Logan, even though she's used to having more serious relationships.

Season 7, Episode 22 "Bon Voyage"

Rory lands her dream job as a political reporter and finds out she has to leave Stars Hollow in three days. With help from the town, Luke throws a surprise goodbye party for Rory. This is one of my favorites because it shows just how much Luke cares for Rory and Lorelai. At the end, Lorelai and Luke get back together and rightfully so, the last scene displays Lorelai and Rory eating at Luke’s Diner before Rory heads off to start her job.

5 Reasons We Love British Show "Made In Chelsea"

Last week’s season finale of Made In Chelsea NYC was intense to say the least. With relationships ending and new ones forming, and just lots and lots of drama, the show is definitely a great source for entertainment. Although the spin-off series of Made In Chelsea has just ended, no need to be sad. By the looks of it, season 8 is approaching and is expected to return fairly soon.

For those who are unfamiliar with the show, the reality television series, Made In Chelsea follows the lives of a group of 20-somethings throwing lavish parties in some of the London’s most exclusive hotspots and traveling on holiday around the world. The show is a MUST to watch so if you haven’t seen it yet, you can catch up on all seven seasons, including the spin-off season in NYC online before it comes back in October!

Read on for the five reasons why you should watch Made In Chelsea.

Amazing Soundtrack

From the series’ theme song “Midnight City” by M83 to songs by artists such as Lorde, The 1975, HAIM, as well as newcomer, Banks - the show has the best soundtrack on TV. The series features a mix of well-known and up-and-coming artists. In addition, the music is perfectly placed to convey the appropriate emotions.

Impeccable Style
It’s no surprise that the cast members have impeccable style wearing the most expensive designers such as Prada, Valentino, Saint Laurent, and more. They shop at the best luxury stores including Harrods, London’s most famous department store. It’s even more refreshing that the male cast members are just as trendy and daring with fashion as the ladies. A few members even have their own fashion blogs.

Comparable to The Hills
If you’re a fan of The Hills – this is the show for you! It has just as much if not more drama. Not to mention, Stephanie Pratt has made several appearances in season 6 as well as the spin-off in New York City. It also looks like she will be appearing in the latest season since she has something brewing with Stevie, one of the main cast members.

The Friendships
Although there has been suspicion that the show is fake, there’s no doubt that the friendships are real - from the bromance between Stevie and Andy to the sisterly and brotherly relationship Lucy and Stevie have. Fans know that Lucy will always have Stevie’s back. Although the cast may get into rifts with one another, there’s no denying that they will make up in the end - just like longtime friends Cheska and Binky did.

The Cast
You have Lucy Watson who is blunt, opinionated, and let’s not forget her one liners, especially her most famous from season 4, “Why is everybody getting up in my grill?” Then there’s ladies man Spencer Matthews (who repeatedly cheated on his former girlfriend Louise); and the life of the party, Jamie Laing who just likes to have a good time; Proudlock who is really edgy but wise - all of them are really different but complement each other well. Whenever they’re all together, it makes for great entertainment!

Drawing in more viewers each season, the buzz surrounding Made In Chelsea is evident. If you want a show with lots of drama, romance, and more drama MIC is the show for you! Catch up on the last seven seasons including the spin-off series before the new season premieres in October! I promise you, you will be addicted!

CG Exclusive: Catching Up with Starling Glow

Take one listen to "We Are Infinite" by Starling Glow, and you'll be hooked. Citing both EDM and rock influences, Starling Glow's new single "We Are Infinite" has already made it into the Billboard Top 20 Dance Club debut singles. We caught up with Liz Hill, the lead for Starling Glow, with a few questions about her music, style, and life.

Tell us about your single “We Are Infinite”!

I think "We Are Infinite" is the kind of song you can crank in the car with your friends when you're heading out for an adventure, or can play while just chilling in your room when you need a reminder that life is awesome. The lyrics are about making the most of the moment, and  not being afraid to shine. I hope listeners feel alive when they hear it.

We also love your style! How would you describe your look?

Why thank you!  I definitely would have never won an award for my fashion sense in high school, haha. Once I stopped caring about following trends and just started wearing things that I loved, I felt like my style came together.  I'm obsessed with the southwest, so I'm always wearing feathers, fringe, turquoise, tooled leather, etc.  I love thrifting, especially for pieces that are vintage and or lace. There's also a rock-n-roll side of me... If it's black and studded and in my size, it's coming home with me.

What are three things you can’t live without?

My horse (and horses in general), makeup (I love getting dolled up), and food (I know this is a given, but man I really really love food... Indian food, cupcakes, Mexican food, cupcakes, Italian food, cupcakes, all of it!)

Who is your role model and why?

Dolly Parton hands down. She's a legend, has written so many iconic songs, she owns who she is and doesn't seem to care what anybody else has to say... And she has her own theme park, I mean, come on! P!nk, Kelly Clarkson, and Gwen Stefani are all pretty high up on that list too!

What is one thing your fans don’t know about you?

I'm a huge nerd. Like, competed in the Science Olympiad and proud of it nerd.  I'm always curious about EVERYTHING, so if you catch me staring at my phone, there's a good chance I'm looking up random facts about plate tectonics or how pasteurization works or methods of animal communication.

Check out Starling Glow's music video for We Are Infinite below, and tell us what you think!

5 Reasons We Love "Pretty Little Liars"

"Pretty Little Liars" came back for one night only to premiere their Season 4 Halloween episode, and the spooktacular event was better than ever! PLL’s Halloween episode was quite the fright fest with the liars finding themselves in new and dangerous situations. From Hannah’s shenanigans to Ezra’s secrets to the scary town of Ravenswood, the episode definitely kept us on our toes the entire time. We don’t want to give away too many secrets, so read on for five reasons why College Gloss loves "Pretty Little Liars." But, beware that this recap may contain some twisted and spooky spoilers.

1. The Liars’ Fashion Sense

From Aria’s edgy outfits to Spencer’s chic and sophisticated style, the girls always wow us with their ah-mazing ensembles. In every episode, the Liars’ outfits are better than the last. We’ve seen them in ball gowns, school clothes, and in the most recent episode, vintage clothes from the Victorian era. No matter what they’re wearing, all four girls always flawlessly pull off each and every outfit.

2. Caleb

He may be Hannah’s beau on "Pretty Little Liars," but that doesn’t mean Caleb (Tyler Blackburn) can’t be our eye candy. The 27-year-old hottie pretty much grabs everyone’s attention with his strikingly good looks, big heart and toned muscles. Although we’re definitely upset that this new spin-off, Ravenswood, means he will no longer be a big character on PLL, we can’t wait to see him as a lead in his own new and spooky show.

3. The Never-Ending Scandals and Plot-Twisting Scenes

"Pretty Little Liars" pretty much always keeps us on our toes with the nerve wracking and eerie vibes that the show is known to give off. The nonstop scandals and schemes continually make us eager for more. Not to mention, the constant search for the identity of the real A is always a crazy rollercoaster ride. From one episode to the next, PLL never seems to disappoint and always keeps us on the edges of our seats.

4. Ali’s Alive!?

We have been seeing two girls in red coats around Rosewood and Ravenswood for a while now, but hadn’t been given any compelling answers … until now. While we knew that red coat No. 1 was Cece Drake, the question regarding who red coat No. 2 was had remained a mystery for far too long. In a crazy twist of fate near the end of the episode, the girls chase down red coat No. 2 and finally find themselves face-to-face with the REAL Ali.

5. We Feel Like We’re Solving the World’s Biggest Mystery

Every time we watch PLL, we feel like we’re Nancy Drew, solving a new piece of the never-ending mystery. When one secret is uncovered, there’s always another question lingering behind the next corner. "Pretty Little Liars" has the ability to bring out the detective that is inside of each and every one of us.

All of these gut wrenching scenes, never-ending questions and juicy drama are only a few of the reasons that people cannot get enough of this mysterious show. The fourth season’s Halloween episode has left PLL fans everywhere eager for more. But, for now there’s nothing else we can do except wait until January when the season continues with new and even more scandalous drama.

5 Reasons We Love Zooey Deschanel

Quirky. Weird. Awkward. Three traits once considered undesirable, until a blue-eyed brunette with bangs made America fall in love with her. During the course of falling in love, America fell in love with everything once considered abnormal. Zooey Deschanel’s peculiar and odd nature set her apart from other Hollywood starlets because she wasn’t the glam girl, the popular girl, the girl next door…she was just Zooey, the dorky girl from California. Which is why College Gloss loves Deschanel.

Her “weird” nature
Quirky, "adorkable," awkward…whichever way you put it, Deschanel is not your average starlet. Although there was a time she did not fully embraced it, she has now fully accepted who she is, and it makes her feel more relatable. It’s kind of like her character Jess said in the show New Girl “We’re weirdos. But that’s who we are. And that’s fine.”

Her old-fashioned vintage style
This is definitely a breath of fresh air in the Hollywood scene because Deschanel is not like one of those glammed-up Hollywood personas. On and off-screen Deschanel dons an old-fashioned sense of style and even lifestyle: “I love old music, old movies, screwball comedies, vintage clothes and basically I'm an old-fashioned gal.”

Her artistic soul
Everyone knows Deschanel is an actress, but do you know she is a singer and musician as well? She is part of a band named She & Him. Deschanel said: “I always thought I would be able to sing and act, but at a certain point, it became difficult for me to share the music part. So I was writing a ton of music, but not really doing anything with it. I didn’t really know exactly who to collaborate with…until I met Matt, and everything seemed to fall into place.” Their first album was released in March 2008. Deschanel plays the piano and ukulele for the band.

She encourages female empowerment
HelloGiggles, Deschanel’s website, is a site that was made partly to create a positive place online for girls. “I just felt it's important to teach young girls to be strong people, to not think, I can’t do this because I’m worried about what people will say. There are worse consequences, but online negativity stops people from being creative, part of which is having bad ideas as well as good ideas. When somebody says, ‘That idea’s stupid,’ you stop your flow of ideas. We can’t have the next generation be so afraid because they have been attacked.” The website is an environment for females to find some laughs and things to enjoy.

She’s a busy woman
Deschanel acts in a hit TV show, performs in a band and runs the website HelloGiggles for women…that in itself is a reason to love her. She’s an everyday woman whose work never ends. Isn’t that the way it is for the rest of us? This solidifies that Deschanel is just like us, and overall, that is what we love about her.

5 Reasons We Love Miley Cyrus

We can’t stop, and we won’t stop obsessing over Miley Cyrus. Cyrus has transformed from young Miley Stewart on Disney’s "Hannah Montana" to edgy Bangerz artist. She may have originated as a Disney Channel star, but this 20-year-old triple threat is quickly making a new name for herself as America’s hottest pop sensation. Read on for five reasons why College Gloss loves Miley Cyrus.

1. She’s isn’t afraid to be herself
Miley Cyrus is breaking out of her shell and making quite the statement while doing it. Cyrus has played many different roles and tried out various styles, but she is finally showing fans who she truly is. She is quickly moving away from the image that the media has created for her; and, instead, she is shaping that image.

2. She’s a fashion icon
Miley Cyrus has an eye for fashion. Not only has she been experimenting with her wild side lately, but she has been starting plenty of trends while doing it. In a recent interview with Hunger TV, Miley opened up about her personal style: “There’s definitely something amazing about being so lady like yet being so punk,” the 20-year old said.

From her ever-changing hairstyles to her courageousness in making fashion statements, she sure does know how to catch everyone’s attention. Cyrus is showing the world that taking fashion risks is one way to make people talk.

3. Her vocals are remarkable
Cyrus can sing her heart out and has shown the world that she is indeed a force to be reckoned with. The release of “We Can’t Stop,” the first single from Miley’s hit new album Bangerz, was an instant sensation selling over 200,000 copies in the first week, with the music video breaking the VEVO record for most views in 24 hours. As if that wasn’t enough for the pop queen, her next single, “Wrecking Ball,” topped the Billboard Hot 100 at No. 1.

Cyrus’ vocals have quickly helped her become a pop icon with people everywhere talking. Not only the fans can’t get enough of the pop queen’s new album, but celeb’s also have taken note. Ed Sheeran recently complimented Cyrus in an interview with “The Mirror,” saying, “I think she’s got an amazing voice.”

4. She is today’s hottest “It Girl"
Cyrus’ ambition, fearlessness and extreme confidence have made her a hot topic. Her controversial VMA performance started as 20 seconds of fame and turned into months of people talking. By shocking the world with a performance that nobody was expecting, Cyrus successfully made the transformation from tween celebrity to adult sensation. The provocative routine got the world's attention, allowing Cyrus to take her career in the direction she wanted. Her drive for success and determination will continue to keep people talking, as Cyrus’ career only continues to blossom.

5. She’s comfortable in her own skin
Miley Cyrus is not afraid to be different, and the confidence she exhibits, along with her ability to just be herself, has allowed for the transition of the year. She may beat to her own drum, but believing in herself makes anything possible. “I want to be really clear and determined with everything I’m doing in my life right now, and I have been. I keep saying I’m the happiest I’ve ever been and that’s not even a dig,” Cyrus said when she opened up to Ellen DeGeneres in an interview. “I really am genuinely happy finally with myself.”

Miley Cyrus is a star to watch. With her impressive vocals, keen fashion sense and infinite courage, Cyrus has endless career opportunities awaiting her.

The Best Makeup Looks to Match Your Favorite Movie Characters

Enjoying a movie is a timeless way to relax and spend time with friends. Many times, we can even relate to the characters and story lines of our favorite movie’s feature characters in terms of lifestyle, struggles and love interests.

When preparing for a themed movie party, many people will wear costumes or do their hair catered to their favorite character in order to show spirit and enthusiasm, but what about makeup? If you’re not sure where to begin, College Gloss has you covered with some beauty ideas for movies past and present.

Holly from "Breakfast at Tiffany’s" (1961)
In order to portray a makeup look worthy of elegant Audrey Hepburn status, go for a classic look such as a smokey eye. You can read “How to Create a Natural-Looking Smokey Eye” about how to master a natural smokey eye, or go all-out with a darker evening look using deeper shadows.

Cher from "Clueless" (1995)
A wealthy beauty queen and shopaholic, Miss Cher Horowitz settles for nothing less than glamorous. When it comes to her makeup, nothing is off limits because Cher loves experimenting with new looks for both her makeup and fashion routines. Basically any look can work to portray Cher, from bold and colorful shadow to classic red lips. Be creative because her options are limitless.

Ali Rose from "Burlesque" (2010)
Effortlessly beautiful, Ali must always look the part as she dances. The movie mentions that she taught herself how to apply makeup because her mother passed when she was young and, therefore, she was not able watch her mother practice her makeup growing up. Despite this, Ali still has a few tricks up her sleeve. To capture her persona, go for false eyelashes and bold winged liner.

Katniss from "The Hunger Games" and "Catching Fire" (2012, 2013)
Due to Katniss’s financial situation and limited amount of free time, she hadn’t been exposed to makeup until it was time for her to be presented as tribute for her district. Known as the “Girl on Fire,” you better believe that her makeup needs to match her unforgettable name. To portray this side of Katniss, go for a bold and colorful multi-dimensional look with lots of blending. To represent Katniss’s journey during the Hunger Games, experiment with earthy shadows such as brown and olive green, while keeping the rest of the look simple.

Aimee from "The Spectacular Now" (2013)
This summer coming-of-age film is about two seniors who become unlikely friends in the midst of some difficult trials. Because Aimee has a very shy and reserved personality, her makeup reflects that part of her accordingly. If you’re trying to mirror Aimee’s look, think back to the basics, such as black mascara, tinted moisturizer and a swipe of lip balm.

Whichever character you choose, you’ll surely look bold and beautiful if you follow our makeup suggestions.

3 Studio Ghibli Films You Will Love

I grew up on Disney films like "Peter Pan," but when my mother introduced me to Hayao Miyazaki’s "My Neighbor Totoro" (となりのトトロ in Japanese), I fell madly in love with Studio Ghibli’s films. Hayao Miyazaki is to Studio Ghibli as Walt Disney is to Disney. Every film by Miyazaki is a masterpiece. The art, music, and plot blend together to make a heart-wrenching story complicating the traditional “good vs. evil” storyline. I highly suggest you watch any of Miyazaki’s films. But these three are my all time favorites.

"Princess Mononoke" (もののけ姫)
"Princess Mononoke" is about a young prince, Ashitaka, whose battle with a corrupted demon curses his arm. He traverses Japan, seeking the Great Forest Spirit to heal him, but encounters a battle between the forest gods and a logging town whose occupants are composed of social outcasts -- lepers and former prostitutes. Does Ashitaka side with San -- who he calls Princess Mononoke -- or Eboshi, the strong willed female leader of the town?

This film is perfect for lovers of "The Lorax" and "Mulan."

"Porco Rosso" (紅の豚)
"Porco Rosso" follows a former World War I fighter pilot turned bounty hunter named Porco Rosso. His appearance may shock the average viewer since his face is cursed to resemble that of a pig. Porco Rosso, along with the talented mechanic Fio, fights sea pirates and a cocky American pilot. "Porco Rosso" is one of Studio Ghibli’s more lighthearted films, but it still subtly suggests the tensions between former WWI allies and enemies. Additionally, it is one of the few Miyazaki films set in a recognized time and place.

Fans of historical fiction will love this playful animation.

"Howl’s Moving Castle" (ハウルの動く城)
Sophie, a young hatter, is cursed in the beginning of Howl’s Moving Castle to look like an old woman by the Witch of the West. Sophie runs into Howl, a debonair wizard whose hobbies include running away from his duties in the war and chasing beautiful women. Their journey together in Howl’s stunning moving castle introduces the audience to a world of magic and human greed.

I highly suggest this film to anyone who enjoyed Disney’s "Peter Pan."

The plots of these films are not the only spectacular part of these films. The music, composed by the likes of Joe Hisaishi, pulls every aspect of the films together. If you have free time, or just enjoy listening to instrumental music, CG recommends listening to Joe Hisaishi on Spotify while working on homework or relaxing.

You can find most of Studio Ghibli’s films in English on the internet, or purchase them at Target.
