How to Style a Graphic Tee and Still Look On Point

I love the graphic tee trend, but sometimes feel like I look a little juvenile when I just wear them with jeans or leggings. But wearing graphic tees doesn't have to be sloppy! Here are a few ways to style them and still look chic and glam:

1. Put a blazer over it
Blazers are not just office wear anymore. Wearing a blazer over your favorite graphic tee gives it just a bit of an edge, and makes you look like you put some effort into your outfit (but in reality, it's so simple!)

2. Layer it under a fun skirt
I love a t-shirt and fun, flowy skirt combination! The skirt automatically makes you look just a little more dressed up, when in reality, you really just threw it over your favorite soft tee. Pair with ballet flats for a daytime look or with heels for a girls night out.

3. Add a statement necklace
Go for glam by rocking a casual graphic t-shirt and your favorite jeans... and a statement necklace! This is another favorite of mine because your outfit is comfy and casual, but still on point.

What's your favorite way to wear a graphic t-shirt?

5 Shoe Trends to Try This Fall

I don't know about you but I'm tired of bringing out my combat boots and riding boots for fall. With the new season just arriving, it's time to try something new! There's so many styles and colors, you’re bound to find something new to love! From oxford shoes to slip-on sneakers, here are styles you need to try this fall!

Having seen them on various celebrities, chelsea boots are a MUST this season. You can pair them with a dress for a more formal look or dress them down with some skinny jeans and a sweater!

Oxford shoes are perfect if you’re trying to go for a preppy, classic look. Instead of going for the typical colors (black and brown), try ones with colored accents! They go perfectly with a button down shirt.

This season’s must-have item are knee-high boots. You can pair these boots with a skirt for that perfect feminine touch or a pair of dark skinny jeans and blouse!

I’m all about the slip-on sneakers this fall, especially patterned ones. Don't be afraid to mix patterns! Leopard patterned slip-ons can be paired with black skinny jeans and a striped shirt!

Wearing bright colored flats is a great way to make your outfit pop! Not only are they super cute with skinny jeans, but they're also really comfortable. Pair them with a t-shirt and blazer and your outfit is complete!

3 Pants Trends For Fall

Fall means it’s time to switch out your shorts for some jeans and leggings. I don’t know about you, but I’m tired of wearing either options this fall. Instead substitute these for harem pants, bell-bottoms, or joggers! Take a look at the options below:

1. Jogger Pants

Who said sweatpants are just for lounging around? Jogger pants are must-haves this fall! These updated jogging pants are super comfortable and are a great alternative to leggings. Whether you’re relaxing at home or going out, you can dress them up or down. Just pair them with a graphic t-shirt or cropped top.

2. Bell Bottoms

I’m happy to say that the 1970s trend is back - bell bottoms! Get away from those skinny jeans with this hippie chic and sophisticated style! Dress it up with a white button down or make it more casual with a cropped sweater or peasant blouse. You have to try this boho chic trend!

3. Harem Pants

Harem pants became very popular this summer but why not carry the trend into fall? They are super versatile - patterned ones are perfect to wear to class while solid black ones could be worn on a night on the town. Pair them with sneakers to get a sporty look or with booties to get a classic look.

DIY Kimono Cardigan (Made From a Scarf)

With the weather getting a little cooler, kimonos are the perfect light weight cover for the end of summer. Instead of going out to buy one, you can make one yourself!

All you need for this project is a large rectangular scarf, scissors, and a needle and thread. This DIY project cost me just $4 (plus tax) for floral scarf. I had scissors, needle, and thread already.

Step 1

Fold the scarf in half and lay it on a flat surface.

Step 2

Measure up from the bottom of the scarf about 10 inches on both sides. Mark each side with a piece of tape. Then measure about 8-10 inches inside of the original mark. mark that spot with tape as well. This will be the line you will need to sew. Sew along this line in a thread color that matches your scarf.

Step 3
Cut one side (important: only cut one side of the fold) of the folded scarf to the top. This will be the front opening of the cardigan. If you're having trouble with instructions, you can also watch a similar tutorial here.

Step 4

Try your new kimono cardigan on! Open up the cut and put your arms through the two "sleeves". If you want your sewed lines to be invisible, flip the kimono inside out.

Now, go rock back to college in style.

3 Basic Outfits to Wear to the Office

Whether you're interning this summer, working part time during the year, or starting your new post-grad job, you don't want to be the girl with the frumpy suit or the girl who tries to pass off a too-tight club dress as appropriate professional clothes. Luckily, you can easily get away with stylish, professional outfits on just a few well-fitted staples.

Here are three basic outfits to wear to the office, plus a list of our favorite basic office staples:

I love the simple yet stylish look of fit-and-flare dresses. Depending on how conservative your office is, you want to go for a dress that ends somewhere between your mid-thigh and your knee. A blazer goes well for a chic look while the A/C is running, and a leopard shoe can top off the neutral look with a bit of intrigue.

Peplum and pants are a dream pair when it comes to office wear. Make sure the peplum top is conservative enough: no see through lace, spaghetti straps, and cut-outs please! Pair the outfit with a neutral heel if the peplum top is bright.

I love how this outfit looks professional, but is actually very comfortable. With a slouchy wrap top and a jersey skirt, comfortable fabrics can go a long way. For days you can't be bothered to wear heels, nude flats will help elongate your legs while you still maintain the comfort of flats.

If you're just starting out, it's a good idea to have a few versatile pieces on hand. My favorite office wear staples include:

  • An office appropriate dress
  • A fitted blazer
  • A cardigan
  • A pair of trousers
  • A peplum top
  • A pair of neutral or black pumps
  • A boatneck top (or any top that doesn't show too much cleavage)
  • A pencil skirt
  • Nude flats

Although your office atmosphere will dictate how you can dress, generally you'll want to stay away from:

  • Dresses that are much too tight
  • Leggings as pants
  • Spaghetti strap tank tops
  • Transparent clothing
  • Mini-skirts (or dresses)
  • Too-high heels

What's your go-to office outfit? What are your office do's and don'ts?

Easy DIY: Tribal Half Print Shorts

I love the fun half-print shorts trend that has started this summer. But why shell out for a new pair when you can make yourself a pair from an old pair of shorts?

I personally wanted a more neutral look with a fun print. I had a pair of khaki shorts on hand, and turned them into my new favorite pair for summer.

For this DIY, you'll just need just a few supplies:

First, take a piece of cardboard and place it inside the shorts on the side you want to paint. This is to prevent the fabric paint from bleeding to the back of the shorts. I also recommend you place the entire project on a piece of newspaper so the paint doesn't stain your floor or table. The pair of shorts I used had couple of small stains on the front, so the fabric paint will cover it up perfectly.

Second, take your masking tape and create some patterns! I used the tape to create a triangle pattern and a straight line. I kept it rather simple, but you can get as creative as you want!

Third, take your fabric paint and paint brush and paint your masking tape stencil! A good method is to blot the paint with the brush instead of swiping it across.

Lastly, let your shorts dry for half an hour before taking the paint off. I also used the eraser on a wooden pencil to stamp some dots into my pair. Remember to follow the instructions that come with your fabric paint about drying and washing.

That's it! This DIY took just 15 minutes for me (not including the drying time), and now I have a new favorite pair of shorts this summer! Let us know in the comments if you try this too!

3 Outfits for Family Get-Togethers

Returning home to your family at the end of finals can be about as intimidating as the essay portion on that history final because it can seem like there are even more questions -- about your major, your classes, your friends and where you’re going with your life. Even if you can’t dodge the questions, it can only help to look like you have your life put together. Try these three outfits when you’re home for the holidays to look cute and collected.

Casual and Cozy

Take a casual approach to the day by starting with a neutral-colored, comfortable dress. Mix different shades of brown throughout your accessories to accomplish an overall warm look. Your family will appreciate the relaxed and innocent look of this outfit!

Funky and Festive

Throw on bold colors with gold jewelry and rock the day. Your family will love your energy and appreciate your love for the season! Try switching out flats with black riding boots for a warmer, more casual look.

Prim and Polished

Top | Pants | Shoes | Handbag

If you really want to look like you have your life together, try this prim and polished look. Dark skinny jeans and a simple blouse are perfect for the occasion. Add red accents complete the look. This is a no-fail way to look put together.
