Budget Chic: Laidback Summer Style Like Maria Menounos

The Look: When temperatures rise, fussy, over-styled fashion will just bog you down. The key is simplicity and chic minimalism as Maria Menounos demonstrates on the cover of June's Self magazine. Her basic tank dress in a bold, sunflower-yellow shade isn't trying too hard, and it's a perfect ensemble to rock doing really any activity this season. Whether you're grabbing a bite in between shopping some boutiques or catching up with a friend poolside, this versatile and subtle style is on point.

Dress, American Apparel, $32; Earrings, Kendra Scott "Danielle," $60; Nail Polish, Chanel "Inattendu," $25; Belt, Gap, $30; Airbrush Self-Tanner, Clinique, $21; Cream Blush, Yves Saint Laurent, $38; Sandals, Tory Burch, $150; Bracelet, Forever 21; $4.80

Getting It Right: Don't overaccessorize or pile on the makeup to achieve the same effortless appeal that Maria does. The turquoise earrings complement the yellow dress perfectly, while the belt adds some interest without getting too crazy. The funky bracelet ties everything together, and we took the liberty of adding some comfy, yet fashionable, footwear to the look even though Maria's goin' barefoot. Elongate your fingers with a pale, nude polish, and make your cheeks pop with a cream formula for your cheeks in a bright fuschia (it'll go on sheer!) Score some beautifully bronzed legs a la the cover girl by spraying your gams with an airbrush self-tanner. Rub on some olive oil and lemon juice if you get streaky.
