The Look for Less: Nina Dobrev at the SAG Awards

The SAG Awards are all about actors honoring actors, and this year was no different. Hundreds of stars turned up to acknowledge their friends, coworkers and peers, and they all brought their best to the red carpet. A major color trend on the SAG Awards red carpet was black, but some stars went bold in fun colors that seriously stood out. One star who took the color plunge was presenter Nina Dobrev, who looked stunning in a bright pink Elie Saab dress.

Nina’s dress seems simple at first glance, with the neckline, sleeves and fit creating a simple and elegant silhouette, but upon closer inspection there are some chic details that take this gown from a nine to a total 10. The lace cutouts on the sides and back of the dress add a little bit of drama to this otherwise simple sheath, and the skinny belt in a monochromatic shade adds some texture to liven up the look. Her diamond drop earrings, bracelet and clutch are the perfect accessories for this outfit, as they don’t distract from the dress but give it a little something extra at the same time.

Nina’s sweet pink dress is the perfect inspiration for a fun Valentine’s Day outfit, or just a fun party look! Start with a solid dress and a similar color in style, in this case a cap-sleeve skater dress that echoes the sporty-chic vibe of Nina’s gown. A skinny belt in a matching color keeps the look monochromatic, like Nina’s, while adding a little bit of texture to the outfit. Nude pumps will make your legs look super long, while still keeping the focus on the bold color of the dress.

Swap out Nina’s long dangling earrings for some rhinestoned studs to add just the right amount of sparkle to this outfit, and slide on a classic charm bracelet for a little something extra to look at, while still keeping the look simple. The accessories in this look are all gold, but silver would work just as well, or you could definitely dare to go bold and mix your metals. And while Nina’s rhinestone encrusted clutch is super glamorous, it’s not exactly real-life-appropriate. Instead, opt for a sequined heart-shaped bag (which is perfect for Valentine’s Day) to store everything you need for the night!
