Baz Luhrmann’s Moulin Rouge! (2001) tells the story of Christian (Ewan McGregor), an impoverished young poet, who falls madly in love with a famous courtesan named Satine (Nicole Kidman). Their relationship is complicated by a covetous duke (Richard Roxburgh), who wants Satine all to himself and holds the future of the Moulin Rouge in the palms of his hands. The movie is a musical that features several well-known twentieth century songs, including “All You Need is Love” by the Beatles and “(Pride) In the Name of Love” by U2. Moulin Rouge! not only offers an inspiring love story, but some wonderful fashion inspiration as well.
