Style Like Her: Boho Bliss by Demi Lovato

The Look: Everyone by now knows the "hippie" look, but not necessarily how to master it. No one wants to look like they raided Mary Kate Olsen's grandma closet in hopes to find some vintage curtains to drape across your body (or maybe you do, God bless you.) These offenders pile on every loose article of clothing from their closet alongside a string of feathers, a series of long necklaces, wavy hair and any other breezy pieces they can get their blinged-out, vintage-ringed hands on. This unfortunately is what happens when trying to perfect the boho-chic look. However, Demi shows us that by mixing in a few structured, bad-ass separates, the look screams trendy without being too decade-specific.

Hat, $45, Modcloth.com; Tunic, $148, Free People; Necklace, $5.80, Forever21; Leather shorts, $97, Lulus.com; Wedges, $154, Jeffrey Campbell; Vest, $50, Modcloth.com; Bangles, $6.80, Forever21; Nail Polish, $16, Deborah Lippmann "Hit Me With Your Best Shot"

Getting It Right: Miss Lovato puts a tough spin on the 70s-inspired pieces. Utilize your hippie-esque items, like a breezy, cream colored tunic and one (just one!) long feather necklace to set the vibe. Add in a funky hat to top off flowy tresses, along with some wood wedges in a bold pop of color. Toughen it all up by selecting faux leather shorts, studded bangles and a metallic grey lacquer for your mani. You'll be the edgiest hippie in town.
