How to Have a Slimmer Summer

Admit it: summer is hands down the best time of the year. The weather is hot, the clothes are hotter, and the food is better. Who doesn’t enjoy Cold Stone ice cream or a bowl of frozen yogurt? Not to mention all of the delicious food at summer cookouts like hamburgers, hot dogs, potato salad, beans, and pie.

There is so much good food it can be hard to say no. But it’s not easy fitting into those tight shorts and pencil skirts, or even the cute cut-off shirts everybody is wearing. Working out to obtain the best beach body does not stop once it's beach season. There are so many more opportunities to get a fun and invigorating workout during the summer months:

1. Running in the morning or evening is always great when it’s not too hot out. Yoga on the beach can also be extremely relaxing. But if you don’t have easy access to a beach, summer sports will always have your back. Swimming at the pool is not only heart healthy, but also fun with a few friends. Got a boat and a pair of skis? Hop on and do a little water skiing at the lake. Maybe you have a little free time during the day: grab some friends and play a little soccer at a nearby park. You never know-- a few guys may even join in.

2. Stuck babysitting? Play with the kids! Kids love to run and jump around and will play almost any game you make up. The more they run and move, the more you will too. Eventually, they may even tire themselves out, giving you a break for the rest of the day.

3. Keep in mind summer fruit that is not only delicious, but also nutritious. Strawberries are in season and picking them fresh from a local farm is not only a good way to get out of the house, but is also fun to do with friends or even a cute date.

4. Remember, it is important to stay active. Not only is working out good for you, but it's also fun for you. Don’t think of working out as a chore during the summer; think of it as something fun for you and your friends. Just keep moving!
