Get Professional in a Blazer
Many of you probably already own a structured black suit blazer, and some of you might even have a slew of slouchy boyfriend blazers in various colors in your closets. Try a happy medium of these two styles by wearing a white blazer that is slightly structured but has a longer silhouette. Pair it with a dainty sundress and some luxe flats to complete the look. American Apparel has a few versatile options, as well as Express.
While white denim may seem a little scary, as long as you watch where you sit and wear an appropriate length for your height, you’ll be able to avoid any crazy stains or marks. Go for a skinny pair and tuck in a crisp button-down to find your inner prepster, or opt for wide-legged flares with a large scarf headband to pretend you’re strutting the streets of Miami.
Little White Dress
Whether you need something to wear for graduation, a dinner party or a night out on the town, subbing a white dress for a black frock will definitely turn heads. Think bandage, bodycon styles for a super sexy look, or draped tunics for a Greek goddess vibe. Lulu’s.com has a wide variety of affordable dresses, many of which come in white. Keep up with another current spring trend easily by adding bold, neon heels or clutch. If you’re on the paler side and are worried about blending in with your ensemble, slather on some gradual self-tanning lotion, such as Jergen’s.
As Michael Kors and Prada showed us on spring/summer 2011 runways, white accessories add a very fresh, clean feel to your overall look. Layer on chunky white bangles with a bright, off-the-shoulder top. A ring with a large white stone would look fab with your manicure. The best white accessory to have? A large, functional tote. Think Hermes Birkin-style, minus the price tag and all. Target has some great options that will add a classy touch to any kind of outfit.
Step Out in Style
While white shoes usually conjure images of Spice Girl-esque extreme platforms from the 90s, or my favorite pair of Easter Sunday shoes from 3rd grade, the newest takes are definitely more on par with 2011. Try gladiator sandals or high-heeled strappy numbers. Or, channel Kim Kardashian and pick up a pair of the highest platform pumps you can find in the bright shade. However, stay away from patent leather if you don’t want your feet to look like they’re stuck in 1996.
So who cares if it’s not Memorial Day yet? Some fashion rules are meant to be broken.
