3 Outfits from NY Fashion Week You Can Wear Now

As another wintry month begins, it means spring, sun and sand is that much closer. Warmer days may be on their way, but in the meantime, the world is largely still cold and gray as remnants of winter linger.

For most, the weather isn’t conducive to breaking out daisy dukes. (But have you heard? Bermudas are the “it” short for spring.) So what better time to have a trial run of a few of those fabulous fall/winter 2013 looks fresh off the Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week runways? These three looks channel the hottest trends from this most recent runway season that are wearable right now.

Serious Sheer

BCBG Max Azria brought loads of trends to the table for the upcoming fall, including colorful faux fur, skirts over pants and our favorite -- sheers. The runway boasted this head-to-toe sheer skirt and top ensemble. For an edgy street style take on this look, pair a sheet maxi skirt with a leather extended bodice bustier and a big faux fur vest and sky-high platforms. If it's still too chilly for going sleeveless, layer a long cardigan under your vest. Stacks of bangles add just enough bling for this hipster-cool look.

Go for the Gray

Gray emerged as a hot neutral at this season’s shows. The best part of this go-to hue? It’s as easy to wear as black or white and looks great on all skin tones but is far more unexpected. A look like this from Rebecca Minkoff is a cinch to recreate on a budget with pieces like this gray jersey dress and floral Topshop coat. Dress it down with heeled booties, as shown, or amp it up with fancy pumps. Minimal accessories let this simple ensemble shine on its own.

Emerald City

The color of the moment, emerald green, follows us into fall in a more muted tone, as seen at Charlotte Ronson’s latest presentation. For an of-the-moment military spin on this au courant color, take a cue from her tonal leather pants and slouchy sweater look. These cognac faux snakeskin pants get the job done at a fraction of the price and still echo Ronson’s vibe when paired with the right top and accessories.

From ornate beading at Badgley Mischka to fierce faux fur at Carolina Herrera, this season designers sent oodles of fabulous trends down runways. What better time to test out this fall high-fashion than now?
